Dymchuk Gallery and Yuriy Yegorov`s Fund announce OPEN CALL 2019

Dymchuk Gallery and Yuriy Yegorov`s Fund are delighted to announce OPEN CALL 2019 for emerging artists.

The theme of this year`s contest is reality. In the era of post-truth politics, death facts, fake news, conspiracy theories and paranoia, big corporations and government create a reality that meets their demands and creates conditions for manipulation. In the end, reality is the result of texts and images, not their starting point. Can the artist resist this process, or vice versa – creating fictitious worlds provides more tools for manipulation?

From November 3 to December 25, applications are accepted from artists and art groups. Projects can consist of works in different genres and media. The works that are not conceptually incorporated in the project, but are isolated pieces, are not accepted for consideration. The winner of OPEN CALL 2019, chosen by an international jury, will be given the opportunity to implement the project in Dymchuk Gallery in the spring of 2019 with technical, media and financial support of the gallery.

The purpose of OPEN CALL contest is the development of contemporary Ukrainian art, as well as the implementation of experimental and critical projects that are difficult to realize without institutional support. The contest is held annually since 2016. During this time more than 400 applications were reviewed. The winners of the contest were Kinder Album, Yevhen Samborsky and Fantastic Little Splash.
